Meet the team: Neil Douglas Kurz BEng DipNDEA MIET AIRPM

Managing Director

Following a degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Neil established his career as a project manager in military electronics and telecommunications- primarily working on head-up displays and secure frequency-hopping radio systems for Eurofighter and Tornado fighter aircraft. He subsequently worked in a start-up company project managing the development and production of the world’s first commercial optical multiplexers now used by telecommunications companies.

His long standing interest in the property sector and experience of buying, selling and renting his own property led to him making a career change in 2003. He has since re-trained to become qualified in residential sales, property management and commercial energy assessment. After working for a number of local, established estate agents, he set up Neil Douglas at the end of 2005. Initially the company focused on sales but quickly expanded to incorporate residential property management and lettings, which currently form the main tranches of the business.

Neil Douglas’s sister company, NRG Experts Ltd, which provides commercial and domestic Energy Performance Certificates nationwide, was established in 2007 and continues to serve a diverse client base.

Neil is a well known social media commentator on the property sector and is regularly quoted in the industry press. Estate Agency Today recently reported him as being the most influential estate agency user of Twitter. He was also one of the ‘Dragons’ in a re-creation of the popular BBC TV programme Dragon’s Den which took place at the Property Professionals Show in 2011.

Neil’s current responsibilities include overall management of Neil Douglas and NRG Experts, particularly focusing on business development, marketing, continuous improvement and IT. He remains actively involved in the day-to-day management of many of our properties and also spends a fair amount of time assessing the energy efficiency of commercial buildings.
